Premise (Molex) Networks

Hudson, NH

< Commercial

CMK Architects designed this 52,000 square foot facility for Molex as a corporate office and production facility for the Premise Network Division. The glass block with its curving shape positions the front entrance to traffic as it travels down the street.

A conference room is located on the second floor over the entry, sharing the wall of glass block resulting in a dramatic space. The curvilinear shape continues into the lobby and is reflected in the reception desk. A built-in display case next to the entrance allows guests to view some of the company's products. The lobby expands into two stories breaking up the rectilinear office space and introducing natural light. At night the glass block glows, emphasizing the presence of the facility and highlighting the front door.

The owner, as a benefit to the employees, requested a functioning cafeteria space. An additional covered pergola was designed off the cafeteria to provide some protection when going outside for lunch.

Brick was utilized on the corporate office portion and the manufacturing facility features economical metal panel with the lower portion of the wall constructed of more durable CMU.

The new facility was recognized with an Excellence in Architecture Award by the New Hampshire Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
